It is so surreal to be saying this … but I am officially a published author!

You Light Me Up is available now and I’m so excited to finally share this story with you all.

For anyone who hasn’t been following me on social media for a while, you might not know that this story is deeply personal to me. I started writing it in 2022, about a year after my grandma passed away. I am notoriously bad at talking about—and dealing with—my emotions, but this time, the feelings that I kept buried began to grow.

In the year following her death, I started having dreams that felt more like I was watching a movie. And what I saw was a story of a girl who was figuring out how to overcome her grief, and her best friends older brother who was always there to help her through it. It came in pieces—the ending actually came first. But by the time a year had past, I was holding an entire story in my head.

So, one day when my fiancé randomly said, “You should write a book”—his reasoning being that I read them so often why not try to write my own—I said, “I’ve been thinking the same thing.” From there, I started putting all of the thoughts from my head down onto paper, and five months later the first draft of You Light Me Up existed. (Fun Fact: the original working title was “When Sparks Fly” until I realized there’s a well known romance book with that title and I changed it to You Light Me Up, and I’m so glad I did!)

Long story short, this story and these characters mean a lot to me, and I hope you’ll love them as much as I do!
